What is Screen Printing?

Screen printing (also known as silkscreen, serigraphy, and serigraph printing) refers to the process of trasfering ink from an ink-blocking screen mesh to some other media. The stencil art allows ink to pass through the screen's mesh in some areas, while blocking it in others creating potentially very complicated designs. A printer then uses a squeegee to pull the ink over the screen while transfering it to a garment. For more information on the subject, check out the wiki page.

Determine the Number of Locations

Typical locations might include a full front, left chest, right chest, full back, upper back, left sleeve, right sleeve, etc. Every location requires us to cure the ink (send the garment through the dryer) and set it up on the press for the new location. Each location adds to the cost of your design.

What is an Underbase?

If you are printing colors on a dark garment there is a good chance you will require an underbase. If you choose not print an underbase your colors will look very dark and/or faded. The underbase makes your colors pop. To calculate how many underbases you need just add one underbase for every location your design requires.
